Building a Business—and a Life—on His Own Terms

For many people, leaving a stable career would feel like an impossible risk. For Matt Jeffery, it became an opportunity. Eleven years ago, he traded the classroom for entrepreneurship, launching Chattanooga Floor Care with a commitment to craftsmanship and customer service—all while embarking on a personal opportunity to chart a life he had always dreamed of.

“When I walked away from teaching, everything about the unknown scared me. But I was willing to take that risk for the freedom on the other side of it. Eleven years later, that’s still what this work is about for me: building something where the impact and the control are both mine to shape,” Jeffery said.

What began as a leap of faith has since grown into one of Chattanooga’s leading providers of concrete coatings and finishes, serving both residential and commercial clients throughout the region. With a reputation for quality workmanship, clear communication, and a customer-first approach, services such as concrete coatings, concrete polishing, and custom concrete solutions like epoxies and custom logos are all provided by a team that strives to go the extra mile.

“When we leave a job site, we want the customer to feel like we went above and beyond for them specifically. That’s the standard the whole team holds each other to,” Jeffery said.

As Chattanooga Floor Care continues to grow, maintaining that level of service remains a top priority. For Jeffery, investing in new team members is key to preserving the company’s approach to business. “This industry has a lot of people who cut corners. This is not always out of dishonesty, but out of not having the know-how. Our team spends time sculpting everyone’s expertise with R&D, specialty training, and continued education,” explains Jeffery.

Currently, the company is expanding its team while working to maintain the “Chattanooga Floor Care Difference” that has defined the business from day one. As a new Chattanooga Chamber member, Jeffery sought opportunities to connect with other business leaders facing similar challenges.

“I was looking for peer relationships, and the Chamber has been a common thread for nearly every serious business owner in this city. Since then, I’ve met and grown alongside more entrepreneurs than I can count through it,” Jeffery explained.

Looking ahead, Chattanooga Floor Care hopes to continue growing a team dedicated to delivering value in a unique way. It aspires to build more meaningful relationships and make a powerful contribution to the community as a business that not only shows up but helps set the standard for an ever-growing Chattanooga.
