A Season of Growth: My Time with the Chattanooga Chamber

At the beginning of August 2023, I was entering the final stages of my time as a marketing major at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. As I began to prepare for life after graduation, I was eager to secure an internship that would provide practical, well-rounded experience in the field, as well as valuable insight into the professional world.

The Chamber was exactly that.

From the moment I started as a writing and communications intern, the entire Marketing and Community Engagement team welcomed me with open arms, offering both the autonomy and guidance I needed to succeed.

Learning how to write and publish engaging articles for our publication, Chattanooga TREND, to attending and photographing groundbreaking Chattanooga events—and everything in between—I gained invaluable insight into both the community and the people who make it thrive.

Having the opportunity to write for TREND allowed me to not only grow as a more confident and skilled writer and interviewer, but also to pitch story ideas, attend key events, and connect with professionals at various startups and organizations I never knew existed.

Since graduating, my growth at the Chamber has continued, as I’ve had the chance to immerse myself in unique experiences such as the Chattanooga Airport expansion event and photographing Komatsu, to name just a few. These opportunities have provided me with a deeper understanding of the key developments shaping the city.

The Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce is involved in so many facets of our community, and I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to be a part of it. I have gained valuable insights and made meaningful connections with so many people along the way.
