Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce Announces 2018 Spirit of Innovation Finalists

The Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce names prosthetic manufacturer Fillauer; Motivo, providing online clinical supervision for mental health credentialing; and employee feedback platform WorkHound; as finalists for the 2018 Spirit of Innovation Award.

Fillauer is a leader in the evolution, design and technology of orthotic and prosthetic products and services, including the NEXO system, an upper extremity prosthesis that has drastically changed options available for patients, technicians and prosthetists. The device is 50 percent lighter than other prosthetic products, with options for various wrist and elbow attachments and PEEK rods that are flexible and reduce both vibration and pressure on the residual limb.

Motivo has developed an online option for pre-licensed mental health therapists to access consultation hours mandatory for licensure. Aspiring mental health professionals search and match with an ideal supervisor through Motivo, which also offers capabilities to schedule appointments, conduct sessions, document notes, collect payment and track hours, making clinical supervision hours more accessible and affordable.

WorkHound gives frontline workers a voice and gives companies tools to act on that feedback, helping them improve operations and increase retention. With a focus on industries like nursing, manufacturing, trucking and warehousing, the WorkHound platform lets employees submit feedback, problems or ideas anonymously through their phones, then WorkHound distills that data into actionable insights.

The Spirit of Innovation Awards, presented by the Chamber and presenting sponsor Bridge Innovate, honor businesses that originated in the region and have potential to impact many people and inspire change either within one industry or across a broader spectrum. Eligible innovations have been implemented within the last five years and are in the revenue-generating stages of their business plan.

A volunteer-led committee made up of community business and tech leaders is responsible for selecting finalists based on their applications, as well as selecting the Spirit of Innovation Award recipient after site visits to each location.

The Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce honors finalist companies and names an award recipient at the Spirit of Innovation Awards Wednesday, Oct. 24 at the Chattanooga Convention Center. This event is comprised of an awards luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and an Innovation Fair from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 2 p.m. The Innovation Fair highlights innovative community partners, sponsors and previous award recipients.
