Spirit of Innovation Awards Recap

The Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce named prosthetic manufacturer Fillauer recipient of the 2018 Spirit of Innovation Award.

Fillauer is a leader in the evolution, design and technology of orthotic and prosthetic products and services, including the NEXO system, an upper extremity prosthesis that has drastically changed options available for patients, technicians and prosthetists. The device is 50 percent lighter than other prosthetic products, with options for various wrist and elbow attachments and PEEK rods that are flexible and reduce both vibration and pressure on the residual limb.

The Chamber also honored Spirit of Innovation Award finalists Motivo, an online platform providing clinical supervision for mental health credentialing, and employee feedback platform WorkHound.

The Spirit of Innovation Awards, presented by the Chamber and presenting sponsor Bridge Innovate, honor businesses that originated in the region and have potential to impact many people and inspire change either within one industry or across a broader spectrum. A volunteer-led committee of community business and tech leaders selects Spirit of Innovation Award finalists and the recipient.

Michelle Buchanan, Deputy for Science and Technology at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, keynoted today’s Spirit of Innovation Luncheon.

Other awards presented today included:

  • Educator Innovation Award, presented by the Chattanooga 2.0 Action Team to Chris Seanard, Dalewood Middle School, for work with the school’s VW eLab
  • Early Innovator Award, presented by the Chattanooga Technology Council to Security Centres International (USA) for their Mobile Advanced Safety Tower (MAST) providing security and life safety services on a mobile, solar-powered, HD video surveillance and communications tower
