The Power of Giving: How Donations to Goodwill Benefit Chattanooga and
Beyond

In Chattanooga, local business leaders have a long history of investing in our
community. A meaningful way that many businesses do this is by donating to Goodwill
Industries of the Greater Chattanooga Area
, a nonprofit that’s been transforming
lives in Chattanooga for over 100 years.

When businesses choose to donate to Goodwill financially, or by donating new or gently
used items, they’re investing in people. Over 85 cents of every dollar from the sale of
donated items in Goodwill’s retail stores goes to support Goodwill’s mission and
strengthen our community through education, training, and employment.
Goodwill has connected hundreds of people to jobs, like Corey, who utilized their free
employment services after he experienced a layoff. A Goodwill Opportunity Center
manager helped him create a resume, submit job applications, and prepare for
interviews. Corey’s job search concluded when he accepted a position at the
Chattanooga Area Food Bank, where he now serves as the Director of Data Insights
and Innovation.

For Chattanooga residents and businesses, donating to Goodwill is an easy choice.
With 20 attended donation centers throughout the region, it’s easy to find a convenient
drop-off location at www.goodwillchatt.org/donate. Whether you’re clearing out inventory
or decluttering office space, these donations help divert millions of pounds from landfill,
over 9 million pounds last year alone, making a significant environmental impact.
Businesses can also receive tax deductions for donations made to qualifying nonprofit
organizations like Goodwill.

When you donate to Goodwill, you’re not just giving back. You’re helping build a
Chattanooga where everyone can thrive. It’s more than Goodwill,it’s good work.
If your business or organization is interested in making an even bigger impact, consider
hosting a donation drive. It’s a great way to engage employees, build team spirit, and
contribute to a cause that’s making a big difference in our own backyard. To get started,
