3 Top Public Safety Resources for Local Businesses

The Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce is committed to building and supporting a safe environment where businesses can flourish. Part of that commitment is fulfilled through community partners and first responders who serve as the cornerstone of downtown security.

In partnership with River City Company, Downtown Chattanooga Alliance, City of Chattanooga and Chattanooga Tourism Company, we have compiled a list of three resources to safeguard your brick-and-mortar business:

Downtown Chattanooga Alliance

If you’re in the downtown area, you may have seen or interacted with some helpful people dressed in orange and gray. This group of volunteers, known as ambassadors, work with the Downtown Chattanooga Alliance to keep our community clean and safe. Visitors, residents and businesses within the Downtown Chattanooga Alliance footprint can request an ambassador to escort them to their car by calling 423.206.4200. Hours of service: Monday to Thursday 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Chattanooga Police Department (CPD)

The CPD serves as the first point of contact to keep our businesses safe. Recently, the CPD enhanced their downtown presence through the Focused Deterrence Initiative. They encourage anyone to report large groups of juveniles out after the city’s 11 p.m. curfew, or large groups congregating in the middle of city streets or blocking entrances to businesses. They also ask to report any instances where dangerous weapons are of concern. Once reported, a police officer will come to deescalate the situation. Call 423.698.2525, or 911 in case of an emergency.

Dragonfly Community Connect

Dragonfly allows companies to link their cloud-based security cameras to CPD’s Real Time Intelligence Center. Companies can enhance their security and protect their neighbors by authorizing the CPD to proactively access some or all facility cameras. The CPD then has quick access to footage if and when crimes occur.

CPD does not monitor your cameras on a continual basis. Instead, they use your selected cameras to take preventive measures in response to reports of suspicious activity.

This service is offered at no additional cost to those using an EPB Hosted Camera. Companies can also speak with the CPD to see if their cloud-based security system is compatible with the Real Time Intelligence Center’s Genetec system.
