Christy Gillenwater Champions Chamber on Moving Business Forward Podcast

On Wednesday, Christy Gillenwater, President and CEO, Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce was featured in an interview on Moving Business Forward — a podcast dedicated to spotlighting business leaders and organizations making a difference in Chattanooga.

Gillenwater sat down with Greg Thompson, executive producer, PodTopics to discuss how the Chamber has evolved to meet today’s challenges and rise to face challenges brought on by the pandemic. Gillenwater shared her observations on the resilience of Chattanooga’s business community and the influences that led her toward becoming the Chamber’s leader in 2017.

“We are a resilient community. We roll up our sleeves and figure it out. That’s part of the brand of Chattanooga,” says Gillenwater.

Gillenwater also spoke on continuing the Chambers strategies including talent development and recruitment as well as engaging community partners to build a local economy where people place first.

“You have to tend to your home. You have to tend to making sure our community is a place where people want to live. That people are drawn to Chattanooga. Because, if people are drawn to Chattanooga, companies will be drawn to Chattanooga,” says Gillenwater.

Gillenwater took the opportunity to highlight the initiatives found in Velocity 2040 while championing Chattanooga Climbs and promoting economic growth around the Greater Chattanooga area.
