Thursday Three: Three Companies Bringing Jobs to Chattanooga

From its sweeping views, laidback charm and eclectic culture, Chattanooga has it all: ideal location, landscape and job opportunities. For longtime locals and those who've recently settled into the city, it doesn't take long to feel right at home in the Chattanooga community. With its future-focused schools, growing entrepreneurship, affordable living options, rich history and art scene, and top job opportunities at businesses like Unum, Volkswagen and BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee among several others, Chattanooga residents can find anything they need to thrive. 

Despite a global pandemic, Chattanooga's entered yet a new phase of growth and expansion, with several partners and companies investing into furthering its economy.

Here are three companies bringing jobs to Chattanooga:

Reliance Partners, LLC Adds 100 Jobs as Part of $1.3 Million Chattanooga Expansion

Reliance Partners, LLC, a Chattanooga-based commercial insurance company and one of the nation’s fastest growing insurance brokers, announced on Nov. 16 that it will invest $1.3 million into its Chattanooga headquarters, adding 100 jobs over the next five years. 

The insurance company expects to book more than $200 million of revenues this year, and serves primarily the trucking and logistics industries. It currently employs nearly 175 people in Chattanooga, Chicago, Milwaukee, Tampa, Birmingham, Alabama, Sacramento, California and Austin, Texas.

Gestamp Announces $95 Million Investment in Chattanooga Plants

Gestamp, a Spanish multinational engineering company, is investing $95 million into Chattanooga plants 1 and 2. These plants specialize in hot and cold steel stamping that will support Volkswagen and Mercedes Benz electric vehicle production.

The investment will be made over the next three years, creating 260 new jobs. 

Gestamp currently employs about 1,000 Chattanooga residents in its three manufacturing plants. In addition to its manufacturing operations, Gestamp is a leader in apprenticeship programming, and their innovative partnership with Hamilton County Schools’ unique work-based learning program ensures a strong talent pipeline for generations to come.

Confluent Medical Locates New Operations in Chattanooga 

Confluent Medical officials announced on Dec. 9 that the company will locate new operations in Chattanooga.

The company will invest $8.3 million to expand its capabilities to manufacture high-performance medical tubing, creating approximately 80 jobs in Hamilton Country over the next few years. 
Headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona, Confluent Medical uses its materials science expertise to develop proprietary manufacturing technologies which produce implantable and life-critical medical devices for the world’s leading medical device companies. Confluent specializes in vascular implantable Nitinol, implantable textiles, balloon catheters and complex catheters.

Since 2015, the Chattanooga Chamber has assisted with new business locations and expansions totaling over $2.2 billion in investments and over 7,461 jobs.
