Spotlight On: midTown Council

At the Chamber’s Annual Meeting, one of the Chamber’s 12 area councils receives the annual Council of the Year award. The councils compete in a process that considers the council’s accomplishments in their footprint that year, the speakers and topics at their monthly meetings and philanthropic donations in their footprint.

Last year, the Chamber’s midTown Council was awarded the Council of the Year award. Highlights of their 2015-16 accomplishments include:

  • Integrated meetings with schools in their footprint and hosted three monthly meetings at Brainerd High School.
  • Facilitated communication between educators and businesses in the area.
  • Grew their council attendance by 60 percent.
  • Participated in numerous community events and fundraising opportunities.

“It was an extreme honor to be awarded Council of the Year 2016. Our previous board laid a great foundation and we have continued the great work to enhance education, community relations and economic development in midTown.”

– Luronda Jennings, midTown Council President

This year’s Annual Meeting will be held Aug. 23 at the Chattanooga Convention Center, and the Chamber will name the 2017 Council of the Year.
