Why Nerds Rule in Chattanooga

Does your business think differently? Do you like to do the unexpected? Entrepreneur Sadie does. She brought her startup, Mouthtime, a kissing booth app, to Chattanooga after facing endless obstacles while operating on the West Coast. Check out her story here:

Here are five reasons why Chattanooga is literally perfect for your inner nerd:

1. In Chattanooga, you can learn how to kiss.

Mouthtime, a kissing booth app, found a home in Chattanooga, where laws allow locals to engage in PDA with their technology. Unlike other cities, Chattanooga puts no limits on innovation. Entrepreneurs are welcome to pursue their ideas, whether it’s kissing your phone or 3D printing walls.

2. You’ll find Internet to be faster than carrier pigeons.

No nerd has time for a lousy internet connection to slow them down. And forget about Google Fiber! Since 2010, Chattanooga, aka “The Gig City,” has been home to the fastest internet in the Western Hemisphere—200 times faster than the national average, to be exact. But we didn’t stop there. This October, we rolled out 10-gigabit speeds, ensuring that nerds throughout the city can download the latest episode of Game of Thrones faster than you can say “a Lannister always pay his debts.”  What more could you need?

3. We have a “butt ton” of jobs.

If you build it, they will come. Since the implementation of the gig network, Chattanooga has added at least 2,800 jobs to the economy. Companies like VaynerMedia have expanded their operations to Chattanooga, while others have relocated altogether. Speaking of Game of Thrones, Jalic Inc., the creator of the valyrian steel swords used in the show, recently relocated to the Scenic City.  #WinterIsHereInChattanooga

4. No need to pay D-list interns six figures.

Unlike other cities with growing tech industries, Chattanooga boasts an affordable cost of living and doing business. In fact, the average median home price in Chattanooga is only $138,000 (and a cup of coffee here won’t cost you eight dollars).

5. We Have Constant Dance Parties.

Here in Chattanooga, we work hard and play hard. We’ve been voted OUTSIDE Magazine’s Best Town Ever TWICE, including just this year. With a range of outdoor offerings, from mountain biking to rock climbing and paddle boarding, there is always something to do.

Not convinced that Chattanooga is all that and a bag of chips?
