TAG Manufacturing Expands with $15 Million Investment

Chattanooga, Tenn. (May 10, 2016) — Chattanooga-based TAG Manufacturing, owned by brothers Terry and Gary Wilt, expands with an investment of more than $15 million creating about 200 jobs over the next five years.

“TAG’s expansion will help us keep up with production orders and new customers,” said Gary Wilt. “We’re excited to be creating family wage jobs for our fellow residents.”

TAG fabricates and manufactures sub-assembled steel parts for the construction, industrial and agriculture markets and also designs, fabricates and manufactures heavy equipment and ground engaging tools.

The expansion will include the purchase of an 18.8-acre lot in Enterprise South Industrial Park across Discovery Drive from TAG Manufacturing’s existing plant.

“When a company expands in Chattanooga, they are not just offering more jobs and more opportunities,” said Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke. “Expanding companies are investing in the people of our community and illustrating that they believe in what we have here.”

TAG Manufacturing currently employs about 300. Construction of the new 200,000 sq. ft. facility will begin this summer.

“I applaud TAG Manufacturing in their expansion here and for being a strong example of manufacturing thriving in Hamilton County,” said Hamilton County Mayor Jim Coppinger.

“Competition among communities for jobs is fierce, so we are honored that long-standing manufacturers like TAG continue to choose Chattanooga as a place to grow their business,” said Charles Wood, Vice President of Economic Development at the Chattanooga Chamber.

The Chamber worked with the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development on this project.
