(April 3, 2018) – Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Christy Gillenwater visits each of the Chamber’s 12 Councils as a featured speaker to discuss her vision for the Chamber.
“The members of the Hixson Council appreciated hearing firsthand Christy’s fresh perspective on the Chamber's future goals,” said Donald Kane, President of the Hixson Chamber Council. “It is encouraging and motivating to learn that she intends to make entrepreneurship, talent retention in Chattanooga and industry-focused partnerships her priority to further the growth and success of our Councils.”
Gillenwater has spoken at the Downtown, Hixson, North Chattanooga and North Hamilton Councils thus far.
“The North Hamilton County Council was honored to be the first council of 12 to host Christy as speaker for our February luncheon. Our Council members are eager to help her in the Chamber's initiatives for 2018,” said Emily Graffius, Vice President of Communication for the North Hamilton Chamber Council.
Gillenwater’s upcoming Council speaking engagements include: the International Business Council April 4 and the East Ridge Council April 5.
“It’s been a pleasure getting to know our wonderful Council volunteers,” Gillenwater said. “Their dedication to specific parts of the community help our Chamber have a farther reaching positive impact.”

The Chamber’s Councils are the backbone of the Chamber's volunteer presence and support businesses in specific geographic areas of the community. They provide opportunities to discuss issues and support events and civic projects that benefit businesses, schools and other constituencies within the Council's footprint.
At monthly Council meetings, Chamber members enjoy opportunities to connect with each other and hear stimulating speakers. Each Council serves the unique needs of its members with its own board, strategic plan, annual budget, programs and initiatives.
