Yates holds over 12 years’ experience in different communication leadership roles in government programs, social marketing campaigns and crisis and emergency responses. She worked over eight years with the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), leading communication efforts for programs like the COVID-19 vaccine distribution initiative and vaccine effectiveness research. Yates served as deputy lead of the CDC’s infection control education and partnership collaborative before accepting her new position with Mayor Kelly’s team.
