Toya Moore, M.Ed., Named Chattanooga Chamber Leadership Development Director

The Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce announced today that Toya Moore, M.Ed., has been named incoming Director of Leadership Development.

“Serving as Leadership Development Director, Toya Moore will have a unique opportunity to oversee programs that help to grow and advance the leadership acumen of talent throughout the greater Chattanooga community,” said Sybil Topel, VP, Marketing & Engagement, Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce.

“As a proven leader who has worked in the private sector and for esteemed institutions of higher education, Toya brings fresh insight and perspectives to our team as well as deep experience in training today’s and tomorrow’s leaders. Her work in Washington, D.C., and Nashville, as well as her many years in Chattanooga, will greatly benefit future graduates and participants of the Chattanooga Chamber’s diverse suite of programs to retain and engage top talent.”

In her new role, Moore will direct the administration of the Chattanooga Chamber Foundation’s suite of programs: Leadership Chattanooga, Young Professionals of Chattanooga, Protégé Chattanooga, the Leadership Chattanooga Alumni Association, and ChattaNewbies. Moore’s work will focus on professional development and civic engagement among early career, mid-career, and established professionals. Leadership Chattanooga alone has graduated almost 1,900 individuals since its 1984 inception.

Moore comes to the Chattanooga Chamber from LBMC where she served as Talent Development Advisor, directing their two flagship programs for leadership development, as well as an executive-coaching program. LBMC is one of the largest professional-services firms in the Southeastern U.S. Moore holds extended certification in DiSC, a widely renowned personality and behavioral assessment tool used to improve teamwork, communication, and productivity.

Originally from Cleveland, Tenn., Moore served as Director of The Acorn School at Vanderbilt University and as an Instructional Specialist for the District of Columbia Public Schools. She has also worked with the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga, Chattanooga State Community College, Signal Centers, Inc., and the United Way of Greater Chattanooga.

Moore earned her M.Ed. in Educational Leadership as well as a B.S. in Applied Human Science from East Tennessee State University. In 2020 she was honored with the Vanderbilt Division of Administration Service Champion Award.

Moore joins the Chattanooga Chamber’s Marketing & Engagement team, which includes Leadership Development, Events and Member Engagement, and Marketing Communications.

Moore succeeds Mary Beth Ikard, after a period of transition, who served as Interim Talent Engagement Director since February.
