Five Ways to Use Video to Shine During the Holidays

Oh, the holidays. Delicious food, fellowship with friends and family, binge watching your favorite television shows and maybe even some much-needed rest. However, before you take the plunge into full holiday relaxation, think about how to capitalize on the holiday season to market your business and bring in extra sales before the new year.

As we already know, video marketing stands out. According to Hubspot, 64% of consumers said watching a marketing video on Facebook has influenced a purchase decision in the last month. Small Business Trends shows us that Social video generates 1,200% more shares than text and images combined.

To help you take advantage of these stats, we’ve put together a list of five ways to use video to help your business shine during the holidays:

Holiday Greeting Card

Spread the holiday cheer by sending a video greeting via email and/or social media to your customers, stakeholders and prospects. Keep in mind that this greeting is about your audience, not you. BUT, you can be a little sly and boost the video on your social media channels or send to a targeted list of customers so that they will keep you top of mind as they are thinking about the holiday.

Holiday Sale Promo

Having a holiday sale? Retailers can acquire up to 59% more customers during the holiday season, so promote your sale to the masses by creating a video to highlight your best deals. Even tweaking a current promo video by simply adding holiday music and colors can help you re-purpose, and customize, a video for the holiday season.

Have Fun…Humanize Your Brand

Lots of exciting things happen over the holidays. Engage your audience and humanize your brand by sharing some of these experiences on social media. Create a funny video utilizing silly footage from last year’s holiday party, office employees dressed up in tacky holiday sweaters or send personal holiday greetings to customers from employees. The goal of these videos is to increase your brand awareness in a funny and entertaining way.

Show Your Generosity

Most companies give back in some capacity over the holidays. If you are planning to donate to a local food bank, donate toys to a charity or simply donate money to your favorite nonprofit, make a video sharing this story. People love seeing people do good things. Do yourself a favor, and pave the way for some good PR as you are supporting the community.

Year-End Wrap-Up

The holidays are a time of reflection and a great time to recap highlights from the entire year. Share milestones, awards and major company news from the previous year. Wrap-up videos are not only a great way to build brand awareness and share news with your stakeholders, they’re a great way for your team to reflect on all the great things your company (and employees) have done throughout the year.
