Special Talk Shop Tuesday appeals to local manufacturers

CO.LAB’s bi-monthly Talk Shop Tuesday speaker events typically host an entrepreneurial startup crowd, but the Sept. 20 event is expected to also attract dozens of local manufacturers, linking two groups that don’t often mix and mingle. The reason? 3D printing.

Startups and major manufacturers alike use 3D printing technology all over the world to explore supply chain innovations and reduce product development production time. Chattanooga is quickly developing into a 3D printing hub, covered earlier in Chattanooga TREND.

This special Talk Shop Tuesday features speakers Bill Peter, Ph.D., Director of the Department of Energy’s Manufacturing Demonstration Facility at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), and Jeff Cornett, Manager of Industry and Economic Development Partnerships.

The Chattanooga Chamber partners with CO.LAB to invite local manufacturers to the startup community event so that both business communities can learn more about the significant 3D printing impact on manufacturing.

“Bill Peter and Jeff Cornett will highlight ways ORNL and the Manufacturing Demonstration Facility can work with industry in order to provide resources to the Chattanooga area manufacturers,” says Tia Capps, CO.LAB spokesperson. “Bill will discuss how 3D printing is spurring new trends in manufacturing and transforming global industries as a whole.”
