The Last Word: Oh My, NYC & Chicago Non-Stop

Terry Hart, President and CEO, Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport

United Airlines is coming to Chattanooga! That’s big news for our airport and our city. September 7 they begin non-stop service to Chicago and to Newark/New York. United will serve these destinations with two daily round trips.

The non-stop flight to Newark marks the sixth airline hub served from Chattanooga. That’s rare for a mid-sized city. From these hubs, passengers can travel to any destination in the world.

We’ve seen many changes in the past few years. American Airlines recently added larger jets. Enplanements (boarding passengers) have increased substantially and we anticipate another record year in 2016. And we hope to see Delta and Allegiant continue their growth.

Inside the airport, we’ve upgraded amenities on both sides of the security checkpoint. There’s a live feed of the Tennessee Aquarium’s alligator exhibit. Soon, Friends of the Chattanooga Public Library will open a bookstore. As always, parking is affordable and security lines short.

Our challenge is to show the airlines we support their investment in Chattanooga. I encourage everyone to fly from our city whenever you travel for business or pleasure. Thank you for your support and we look forward to continued growth in the years ahead.
